Coneflower Masked Bee

The Coneflower Masked Bee (Hylaeus rudbeckiae) is a bee in the family Colletidae, found in the San Francisco Bay Area.

This species is widespread and commonly found at garden sites in California.

Its flight season is from March into October, with peak flight activity from July into September.

Coneflower masked bees are solitary bees that construct nests in preformed tunnels, such as beetle burrows and hollow stems.
