- Found in saline alkaline or brackish marshes but will grow in other wet places
- Thick and creeping and spreading through rootstock
- Leaves erect 1 to 3 feet tall
- Flowers in summer on erect stems 3 feet tall
- Plant toxic to livestock
- Found in Molate, Los Vaqueros watershed, salt-marsh and brackish wetlands of Flatlands and Valley sections also reported in Bay hills section
