- Found in clay or serpentine soils but prefers rocky soils
- In spring many star shaped flowers (white with yellow-green centers) appear on a single spike 6 to 8 inches tall
- Dies back completely in summer only to reappear again in spring
- Poisonous. Even deer won’t bother it
- Found in Bay hills, Diablo and Hamilton sections
