- Short-lived perennial that grows on open slopes and ravines in woodlands
- Plants are from 9 inches to over 2 feet in height
- Small yellow flowers appear from March-May
- Well drained soil and some shade is required
- Germination is best after a cold winter
- Found in Molate, Bay hills, Diablo, Hamilton and Altamont sections
