- Evergreen shrub growing in full sun to partial shade
- Red flowers in mid to late spring
- Not too particular about soil as long as it is well drained
- Drought tolerant
- Wicked prickles (excellent barrier plant)
- 3 to 5 feet tall
- Butterfly and hummingbird plant
- Deer resistant
- Not commonly native in our two counties
- Found in Mission Peak section
