- Sun-loving, of open grasslands, sandy soils, burns
- Not long ago they were found all over California but now they are becoming more and more rare
- Found in Bay Hills, Diablo, and Hamilton sections; also reported in Flatlands, Altamont, Livermore, and Valley sections
