- Perennial from a thick creeping rhizome
- One to three feet tall stems often arching
- Moist woodlands, stream banks and open woodlands
- Requires good drainage dryer than S. stellata
- Allow to dry out when plant goes dormant
- Similar to S. stellata but leaves are broader fruit is dotted
- Found in Bay hills and Diablo sections
