Western Leafcutter Bee

The Western Leafcutter Bee (Megachile perihirta) is a bee in the family Megachilidae, found in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Its flight season is from May into September, with peak flight activity from June to August.

Western leafcutter bees are solitary bees, constructing nests in tubular cavities including hollow stems, tree holes and abandoned beetle burrows in wood.
