Urbane Digger Bee

The Urbane Digger Bee (Anthophora urbana) is an anthophorine bee in the family Apidae, found in the San Francisco Bay Area.

This species is the most commonly found member of the Anthophora genus at garden sites in California.

Its flight season is from May until October, with peak flight activity from June into September.

Urbane digger bees are solitary bees that nest in the soil, often in flat, bare ground or vertical banks. Nests may be clustered together in large aggregations.
