The Spotted Woolcarder (Anthidium maculosum) is a bee in the family Megachilidae, found in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Its flight season is from May into October, with peak flight activity from June to August.
Spotted woolcarders are cavity nesters; some may excavate their nests in sand. Woolcarder bees get their common name from their unique nesting behavior: females scrape the hairs off surfaces of leaves and stems and stuff them into their nesting cavities, forming a cotton-like filling.
