The Flat-tailed Leafcutter Bee (Megachile mendica) is a bee in the family Megachilidae, found in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Its flight season is from May into September, with peak flight activity from June to August.
Flat-tailed leafcutter bees are solitary bees, constructing nests in tubular cavities including hollow stems, tree holes and abandoned beetle burrows in wood.
