Native Here Nursery

NHN is a volunteer-run, non-profit nursery dedicated to growing locally native plants for home gardens and restoration projects. Our mission is to propagate and sell plants from seeds and cuttings ethically collected in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
Native Here nursery is a project of the East Bay Chapter of the California Native Plant Society, which is a 501 C3 organization. Donate here.

Our plants

We typically have over 100 species in stock, varying seasonally. We grow many popular garden plants, as well as some that are rare, endangered or threatened, and found only in micro-regions in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

We organize our stock into geographic localities based on where we collected seeds and cuttings in the East Bay.

Our service area

By law, our sales area is limited to these California counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Monterey, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, and Trinity. Because we’re located in a county confirmed to have Phytophthora ramorum, the pathogen that causes Sudden Oak Death, we cannot sell plants destined for California counties that don’t already have this pathogen, or outside of California.

Our history

[To be added]

Native Here Nursery respectfully acknowledges the Ohlone, Bay Miwok, and Delta Yokuts, the first inhabitants and stewards of this land.
